Current Grants: Sustainable Forestry
CURRENT ACTIVITIES: VSJF’s sustainable forestry activities currently consist of a “tree to finished product” pilot project involving Redstart Forestry, Vermont Land Trust, Allard Lumber, Copeland Furniture, and Champlain Hardwoods, that will bring FSC-certified, Vermont-grown Rock and Red maple lumber into the marketplace with the chain of custody intact. This project will demonstrate that a premium can be garnered for this type of material and test the level of interest in forming a larger collaborative effort to aggregate and brand Vermont green wood.
VSJF is also working with Jonathan Miller, architect, CSI-VT, AIA-VT, and the Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association, to expand the Certified Wood Guide Specifications developed for the Vermont Wood Products Resource Manual.
There are currently no open sustainable forestry RFPs, but please contact us if you are interested in taking part in the tree to finished product project.
