Current Grants: Sustainable Biofuels
CURRENT ACTIVITIES: VSJF recently received another round of funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, secured by U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, to advance the goals of the Vermont Biofuels Initiative (VBI). The purpose of the VBI is to foster the development of a viable biomass-to-biofuels industry in Vermont that uses local resources to supply a portion of the state’s energy needs.
VSJF is researching guidelines and standards for sustainable biofuel production. We are also developing a Renewable Energy Atlas of Vermont, a GIS-based map/analysis of all renewable energy feedstocks and sources that can be developed in-state.
VSJF will make multiple sustainable biofuels grants in FY09. Competitively awarded grant rounds will be conducted for feasibility analyses, research and development, and demonstration projects for various biomass / biofuels feedstocks, including oilseed biodiesel, algal biodiesel, and grasses for pellets or potential cellulosic ethanol applications.
Please check this website for updates and RFP announcements or contact us to be placed on an email list to notify you of upcoming funding opportunities.
