Vermont Biofuels Initiative: Supply Side
Green Technologies
Scott Gordon founded Green Technologies, LLC "with the belief that chemistry can solve many of the world's problems if practiced in a sustainable way." Green Technologies is a small chemical company dedicated to research, development and marketing of environmentally benign products and processes, including biodiesel made from recycled vegetable oil.
In December 2006, the VSJF awarded Green Technologies a $98,000 grant from funds secured by Senator Leahy from the U.S. Department of Energy:
- Increase production capacity of existing plant from 10,000 to 50,000 gallons per year of ASTM grade biodiesel
- Develop a testing process to reduce costs for ASTM testing of biodiesel
- Evaluate their production system for safety and efficiency using qualified engineering consultants
- Strengthen its core business model with technical assistance provided by VSJF's Peer to Peer Collaborative program.
